Well, I successfully pulled off Week Two–It only took me 2 weeks, but that’s okay.  For Week Three, a couple of my assignments seem pretty fun.  I’m excited about picking out colors and designing an invitation to my Guitar Hero party.  Well, more like “get together.”  My apartment is the size of a large closet, so I can only have a few people over at one time . . .

  1. Vacuum, dust, and mop (wet or dry) throughout your home.
  2. Clean your entrance and any related closets.
  3. Arrange to have all repairs taken care of in the next three weeks.
  4. Declutter your entrance.
  5. Move all old mail, catalogs, and magazines to the Outbox.
  6. Look into what you would need to create a Landing Strip.
  7. Cancel any unused subscriptions.
  8. Identify cool rooms and warm rooms.
  9. Apply the 80/20 color rule.
  10. Cook two meals at home this week.
  11. Design an invitation for your housewarming Guitar Hero party.
Another interesting assignment is #6 because the entryway of our apartment gets really cluttered.  Again, Ikea has the solution to my quandary.  I want to do a similar combination of the Billy bookcases that are shown in this picture.  I like that I can hide all of Ray’s shoes that usually pile up at the door.  Also, I think I would mount some furniture lights because our hallway is so dark

I love Memorial Day sales!

Why are sheets so expensive? Thank goodness for Memorial Day sales.  I just picked up these sheets from Macy’s.  In an effort to please both me and Ray, I gravitate toward neutrals, but I decided to add a punch of color.  Yellow is obviously sunny, warm, and radiant, but did you know that it also sharpens your memory? And no, I don’t remember where I heard that . . .

Ikea . . . Phase One

You have to go to Ikea with a game plan.  Otherwise, you inevitably leave angry and full of regret.  Because I’m going to Ikea for the bulk of items I need for my apartment makeover, I’ve decided to break my shopping up into a series of manageable phases.  Phase One will be this Tuesday.  I’ve included the following items on my list:

Wow.  Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan would be so disappointed in me.  I’m already a week behind! I shouldn’t make excuses, I know, but I’ve been really really really busy.  At any rate, I’m back and quite determined to see this Home Cure through.  Anyway, I have no choice.  Ray and I are going to Ikea next week, so it’s crunch time.  Luckily, I’m not too far behind on my Week 2 assignments:

  1. Fix one thing in your apartment yourself.
  2. Clean your kitchen from top to bottom and throw away old food.
  3. Buy a water filter and use it.
  4. Run your hands over every wall in your apartment.
  5. Clear space for an Outbox.
  6. Clear one surface and use the Outbox.
  7. Buy fresh flowers.
  8. Determine your style.
  9. Find a new recipe and cook one meal at home.
  10. Choose the date for your housewarming Guitar Hero party.

The New Apple Store

The new Apple store on Boylston St. has three floors and an all glass exterior.

I took photos with Ray’s iphone.
